Places like auto zone and OReilly run a little over 50% gross margin. Seems high but they also keep a ton of inventory on "failure" parts. i.e. you need it today. So that is probably not too crazy IMO. They also have generous warranty programs.
It’s bigger than that. I know people who work there pay like 30-40 percent of listings price.
Got to experience tariffs first hand today.
