Northwest IL | This is a bogus report that doesn’t need to be done. We should do acres this month and yield next month. Instead we do acrwage end of June with an acreage deadline of July 15th at your local USDA office. Should be able to hit a button August 1st. and see the totals. Isn’t the August crop yield just a population check and a higher ear weight every year to get a higher yield? You can sell me on any number you want for yield, good or bad but I want to see actual ears, in field data and photos. Not just backwards math to reach what every number USDA or market is dreaming up. There is a marketing firm on X that is doing a crop tour now. Might be a tad early in some places but they are actually in fields scouting. | |
