| Same reason they didn’t rush to buy in 2024. They knew the farmer was overly long 2023 in the bin waiting on a weather rally. They knew the corn was there. Weather rally didn’t happen and farmer had to puke in July, Aug, Sep of last year. Same exact thing this year on new crop. Farmer extremely undersold waiting on the 89 year gleisburg drought that they all were told was going to happen. Now we are just a few short weeks away from harvest and crop is huge. They know farmer will have to puke sell in the fall on a large percentage of production. End users will be able to buy, funds will be able to cover without showing up on the radar. Why buy now when it will be cheaper next week, and the week after that, etc.
The crop is big. Nobody can argue that. There are the typical agtalk crop killers that try to make up stuff and scream how bad it is, but even most of them have been silent. As an end user or short paper, no way I’m buying here knowing what’s coming across the scales in a few weeks.
