The app rate module can be a good tool to use in several places.
I thinking about make up a harness with a switch that I can move around easy so I can use it on several different pieces of equipment for better coverage maps.

That sounds like a good idea. Just be certain that you use connectors etc. that will make it easy and force you to connect it up properly in the different situations as you move it around.

I inherited a damaged Application Rate Module that was marked "dead". Since I had a good working Application Rate Module already and a diagram of the pin assignments, I was able to perform some tests. I determined that the 12V and 5V out pins that are used in various situations were both dead. My guess is that the previous owner had inadvertently connected one or the other to ground. This may have caused a dead short which burned out something internally in the module. The modules are sealed and not repairable.

Since I had an Ag Leader display setup in my basement lab, I was able to test it out. I found that by supplying the 12VDC or 5 VDC from an outside source allowed both an implement switch for coverage or a flow meter for applied rate and maps to work properly.

That module now lives in the old Deere 8310 tractor to work with the Yamatake Mag meter on a liquid manure rig. My original Application Rate stays on the planter year-round but could be moved if necessary.
