I agree with what you said about the young guns being in very deep. There are a few around here that are in that boat.

Just the other day I made a reply in this board in another thread about how farmers complaining of "hard times" now don't know what hard times really are. One guy derided me for that comment, blathering something nonsensical about "Boomers" because, in case you haven't heard, we are THE cause of every one of their problems from high input costs to low prices, to the record yields, to (insert ass ache of the day here).

I suspect that he might be one of these young guys like you and I know that is seeing storm clouds gathering on his horizon. He may not know what true hard times are yet, but might be getting a whiff of that stench starting to blow in.

I have remained fairly conservative in my operation the same as you, and for the same reason. I saw the destruction the 80s did to the young guys back then that were hell bent on owning the whole world. The guys that survived were the conservative operators and the old guys then that had memories of previous truly hard times. I have told my son to be watchful of the next number of years since there may well be some golden opportunities arise for him.

Hmmmm,a lot of high rollers around here survived the eighties with Million dollar “Plus” buy downs, and came back stronger then ever……
