Pittsburg, Kansas | I had a friend who's wife did the same thing. A little whipped cream from a can as a treat at night.
Cat got sick. Took it to vet. Diagnosed the cat with diabetes. Needed insulin shots. Went on for a year or two giving the cat shots.
One night cat passed out. Took to vet. Vet couldn't find anything wrong. Ask if diet had changed. His wife thought the cat was getting a little fat. So she had quit giving the whipped cream treat at night.
Cat had a hypoglycemia episode. Low blood sugar. Took the cat off insulin shots and cat was fine.
Guy said he gave that stupid cat shots daily all that time for nothing.
Lousy diet with sugar was the problem.
Works basically the same for humans although we being omnivores rather than carnivore we have a pancreas that will accommodate more range of food.
Till we overload it for years.
