Now is not the time to invest into the cattle market. The top is never the place to enter an enterprise. Be patient and wait for the financial blood bath to occur (it's coming) and then look for opportunities to get in that differentiates yourself from the just being a producer of a commodity where the only thing that matters is being lowest cost producer.
RS, guess I’m gonna have to disagree with you on your summation. Don’t look at this as all or nothing. I remember Buffet saying one time “never check the depth of the water with both feet”. I always liked that analogy. What i am saying is, at least with cows, a young fella can start small, and let dollar cost averaging work to his/her benefit, by adding x amount of cows every year systematically, like clockwork. Never deviate from the program. In 15 years, they will have arrived, and achieved something meaningful for their efforts. Can’t buy land 1/4 of an acre per month for the next 15 years and farm it yourself.
