Every company when subsidized, doesn't just pass the saving on and say "oh well, good for them"

They raise what they are charging to be at the thresh hold of what people will pay.

If there were no subsidy, the price the company charges would go down, for the simple fact if they didn't, nobody would buy it (well some idiots would, but not as many would).

If a company thinks a product will sell for $2 and they get a $1 subsidy, they will raise the price to $2.80. You then get it for cheaper than without the subsidy, but you are on a whole other level of delusional if you think they are not baking that subsidy into the price.
