NW Washington | Some Austrian Winter Peas are grown for seed in N Idaho on the eastern edge of the Palouse area. They are not very winter-hardy, so they can die out in some winters. One big problem is weed control. They are in the ground for a long time, and with peas, you have very few herbicide options. You need dry weather when they are ripe. Newer varieties stand up better than the old ones.
