southern MN | Several years ago we had a cool year and lots of smoke. It was a late wet high moisture corn year. I won’t say only the smoke caused issues, but it seemed to be a good part of the problem.
I cut alfalfa on Tuesday, raked it Friday, tedded it Saturday, it’s kind of sort of wilted today, then it sprinkled on it this late afternoon. It just will not dry, we never get sun to dry it or the ground.
The occasional light rains and the high humidity makes it hard to dry hay, but I’ve been through those conditions many times and get to bale the hay eventually. Add in the smoke now and it just will not dry.
Seems like we might have a later, wetter crop than normal. But September can change all that.
