Based on your goals, 50# plus of cereal rye would be my target rate. You will have a hard time getting many acres covered with a drone at that seeding rate. It will work great but very unproductive and probably expensive because of that. My vote would be to broadcast immediately behind the combine. You can run the VT after that or let it lay. Both ways will work but I prefer a VT (now that I own one). We have had dry falls recently and broadcasted seed, if not VT’d, wont germinate for a while.
