Fort Dodge, IA | I have been debating whether to post this or not. Decided I had to post. There has been much discussion on the disease pressure this year. In Iowa, we have an excellent agronomy department and I'm proud to be an agronomy major 1980. However, some have reported seeing only light disease pressure in fields scouted so far and I'm wondering where they were scouting because my field scouting in the past 3 weeks has shown a building disease pressure especially with Southern Rust and now Tar Spot. I'm seeing many fields with leaves compromised at or above the ear leaf. All the fields I checked last week had fungicide applications 2-3 weeks ago and the Southern Rust and Tar Spot pressure is represented by photos below.
