Subject: Working Cereal Rye into Corn Stalks after harvest

Western MN
Good afternoon everyone! After our corn harvest here we drill some c. rye into 2 to 3ft tall corn stalks with a 15ft JD 750 drill. This works well but we don’t have the time or man power to cover all of our acres with this method.

We have a Salford to rent from a friend so I was wondering if you guys would cut the corn stalks low (8-12”) or leave them tall when working the rye in with a VT tool.

The local co-op will be blowing the rye on for us. Maybe it makes no difference but I’m just curious what you guys think. Thank you!
