| So you’re suggesting that all of the other things that we do to raise a great crop have little negative impact on price? But fungicide is the driver for $3.75 corn?
“I could get into the extreme market impact of all these” nitrogen applications….heck all this seed that is being planted - simply to generate cash flow around the farm - is getting to be a BIG problem.
The single most effective thing a Midwest grower can do to help eliminate $3.75 corn, while still getting participation trophy’s for several different layers of “stewardship”, is to plant cereal rye on as many acres as possible ahead of corn. It keeps a guy busy - gives him something to stress about, gives him something to post on social media about how awesome and progressive he is - helps reduce cash rent pressure in the neighborhood, and bolsters the price of corn.

I love this topic. I could get into the extreme market impacts of all these fungicide applications being made today but suffice to say I really hope we get to sell $3.75 corn for another few years to cut back on the craziness
