Ontario | I sharpen all my bits on a belt sander, 180 grit. I have more control on the edge I put on the leading edges of the twist drill. I grind down the heel as well because, that helps with drill wandering when you start a hole. One simple trick is to get 2 regular nuts and put them together. You can judge your leading edge angle with it. The angle will be extremely close if you do it this way. I have 10 sets of drills that I keep sharp. My biggest problem is convincing people that faster speed at the drill end is not the answer to drilling holes faster. | |
