| Two gauges to replace nozzles:
1. Pattern - If pattern is garbage, time to replace it. Again, if it is plugged or dirty, clean it and re-check. If pattern or nozzle is damaged though, time to replace it.
2. Flow Rate - EVEN if pattern is good looking, if the flow rate is out 10% of what it should be, it is time to be replaced.
To test it, you'd do a flow check (few ways to go about it) - Good guide on comparing options here: https://sprayers101.com/measure-nozzle-flow/
- Generally as no one is necessarily going to test each nozzle between each season, I'd say in reality the second best thing you can do is test a few on each section to see where the relative wear rate is. If all the nozzles are similarly worn, and spraying within 10% of what they should (e.g. a 110-06 nozzle should be spraying out 0.6 US gal/minute at 40PSI from brand new, so if that 110-06 was spraying out 0.8 us gal/minute at 40PSI, then it is way worn out and time to be replaced)
So, depending on material of the nozzles, some plastic ones might only last like 15-25K acres at the best of times, while some plastic types might last more like 35-50K acres. So, I'd reckon it'd be time to replace your TTs already. Again, pattern is one thing, but the flow rate could be out 20% and you pattern still look pretty good. Again, EVEN if the tank is empty at the right time, that doens't necessarily mean the nozzles are perfect flow anymore.
