If you had plenty/excess power with a 40' head, I would think that your limiting factor would be the speed your sickle can cut the crop. The sickle only travels so fast on any cutter bar unless you have a rotating sickle like the old JD row heads or the rotating hay cutters. That being said, going to a 45' head would NOT get you 25% more. Need to go to a 50' to achieve that.
