Subject: RE: NH3/Dry dual placement

SWIA
I dual place with 12row 30" Ag systems shank machine, scales, half width shut off, have for 15 years or so, fall and spring. All point rowed up, terraced, contours and plant corn in 20" rows. Never had a burn problem. This machine pulls hard about 6" deep or so. Apply about 400lbs dry/ac and 200lbs/NH3 in a 1450 tank, can empty out in 30ac then fill and hook on another tank. Have a 24ton SS tender trailer auger sticking out the back, holds 120 acers. Mighty tough to get that ran off in a day. I believe it is a good way to apply fertilizer in no till. Second best to hog manure. In a good year like this one may not notice the difference in yield on a good farm compared to broad cast. Downside is - It is a lot of work [ranks right up there with sorting hogs], pulls hard, can't get many acres done in a day, dry dusty fertilizer rusts everything, the tractor pulling the machine and truck and trailer.
