Explain what is limited? Engines,trans,hydraulics,elec-srarters, alts. Are we talking about changing parameters of speed and function. Also are we looking to alter or delete emissons?
Pretty much anything to do with the aftertreatment system requires dealer intervention after you hit a certain percent of soot load. You can no longer force regens, reset modules after repairs are made, or anytime a DPF or DOC is replaced, software has to be notified, and such resets cannot be preformed by anyone but a dealer. ECM"S cannot be changed, Body control modules cannot be programmed for simple things like activating AUX switches on the dash. They have pretty much locked the customer out of their truck, and force you to pay them to turn things on that are already bought and paid for. EI. The AUX switches in the dash of a International Workstar have to be assigned a address, and code of logic by the dealer just to make it send power to a AUX function. The owner of the truck has already bought the entire system (AUX switches, Remote Power Module, and all the wiring) But cannot use any of it until the dealer is paid the ransom to turn it on. The OEM's cry that we only want the access to deactivate the emissions, but it only a ploy to protect a huge part of their revenue. If I want to delete a emissions system, its as easy as knowing the right people across the pond. No matter of OEM protections are going to stop that kind of play. Its the same thing they tell us about fire arms.....The laws are to keep the guns away from criminals.............As if criminals follow laws***** |
