| Picked up a group of mixed matched cows and calves that were in very bad body condition, Scores of 1-2s. Neighbors thought they were starved but they had just been dry lotted with very low-quality hay. Got them moved and turned on better grass, Giving them free choice mineral, protein lick tub and a pound/HD per day of range cubes along with a good quality grass bale as well, been wormed poured and gave a shot of multimin, calves got nasalgen as well. The calves are all different sizes ranging from a few weeks old all the way to maybe 16-18 months. The bull calves have not been pinched yet. We had extra grass but with all the rain the grass is pretty "Washy", few questions for someone that's dealt with this kind of cattle.
1st How long does it take to get their guts back to normal?
2nd Do I dare start calves on creep when their guts are back to normal?
3rd Im not married to these cattle Pre-Con sale in September, Ship the calves that are weaned or feed them out and get them a little fleshier?
