Not so much for the yield as the standability. Even if late diseases don’t much affect the yield, when you’re still scraping corn up off the ground on Christmas Eve, $25-30 ac seems cheap.
That having been said, I’m pretty sure I’ve come out ahead on the wind insurance, then hot wiring it and running feeder calves out on it. But it was a lot of work as well. | |
