Best is 3/16in pod in one of top 4 nodes which is R3. I've sprayed beans every year for the last 10. I think it pays in quality every year but you normally hit a home run 2 out of 5 years it seems at least for us. On the years that don't hit big the insecticide always helps because if not sprayed we always had stink bugs that would make a lot of 3 bean pods into a 2 from drilling into it.
