 Northern Indiana | yes, that was the reason I made the decision to care for children too. I treated it as a ministry. Small and intimate or home-based situations are the best - but not in the best interests of infants and children. It's not necessarily the daycare itself, it's the forced seperation of children from their mothers that's not good. Mine was a great situation - they had the run of my home, my love, and they were well prepared for Kindergarten. But I was not Mom and it had its effect. Even though they were loved, well fed, secure and safe, I was not their mother, and it was hard for them.
I'm all for a mom's day out so she can have a break and have some time to herself. Kids are exhausting and adults do need some down time. But I learned from my own experiences that when little children are forcibly seperated from their mothers 8-10 hours a day it does leave its mark. You go ahead and give those little ones all the love and care you can. It's really needed. | |
