Simple math


Assume 1500 GDU from pollination to black layer. Just avg number. Some longer some shorter.

35 GDU/day is 43 days
25 GDU/day is 60 days

17 more days of photosynthesis to make sugar that ends up as starch density.

Also it’s not linear. Usually high GDUs also have higher nighttime temps that rob sugar to keep corn cool. Dark respiration. Thus your sugar output at higher temps is robbed and ultimately takes away from ear weight.


Long range forecast is building warmth back in.
