I'm not aware of any ag evaluations on this topic, but from MANY years ago dryland wheat evaluations at different row widths, yields could be similar at different spacings, or better with narrower spacings. Various variables (nutrients, rainfall, seed variety, plows, discs, no-till, soil type) can affect the results.
Point Here - It's my understanding horizontal moisture movement happens. So, in this pic below, an additional 4" is shown, but will these two rows at 14" produce more wheat, than at 10" spacing?
