WCMO-SWMO Area | Many years ago the only locks our farmhouse had was a hook on the inside of the screen doors... They of course could only be latched when everyone was in doors which was at night...We milked cows so seldom ever left on vacations...Some one was always home except for Sunday's when we went to church..We didnt even have much worth stealing back then...We built a new house in 1967 and it was always locked at night..
Our farm house is now locked 100% of the time and has been for many years..There used to be a odd lady in the neighborhood that never knocked and walked in to houses day or night if the door was unlocked...She never stole a thing but scared the heck out of several people..Theres just too many mentally ill people,thieves, and meth heads around these days to leave things unsecured..I couldnt sleep a wink at night if the doors weren't locked..I want some advance warning if someone is trying to break in..
I remember some years ago watching a true crime show about a crazy axe murderer that just killed people at random..I remember him saying that it was so easy to do because people left their back doors unlocked and they also had a axe at the woodpile...He used their own axes to kill them..If their front and back doors were locked he left them alone..
