Subject: Locked 440/450/460

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
I have a Raven 450 that has this capability but I never use it. The intention of the lock process is to prevent a user or employee from accidently changing the settings. It's been a while but I believe the lock applies to certain settings but not others.

I believe the locked values for for the various section widths, speed cal, meter cal etc. I believe you can still change the target rates for Rate 1 and Rate 2.

To unlock those values that the lock pertains to does require the 4 digit lock number that someone has entered (previous owner?). If you know who they are they may remember.

One method would be to try a few numbers such as 1234 or something simple.

If this fails, observe all the values currently entered into the 440 such as the Boom widths, meter cal, speed cal, valve cal etc. and write them down.on paper which is a good idea anyway.

Then purposely force the 440 to "lose its memory". The method to cause the 440 to lose its memory depends on its age. If there is a 9 V battery in the small compartment on the back, remove it and remove the fuse. Wait a while and insert the fuse and turn the power back on. If the display flashes CAL, you have been successful.

If yours is reasonably new and the letters NVM appear on the lower front, the procedure is different. NVM stands for Non-Volatile Memory which means the unit will retain its settings without the need for a battery. The battery box is still present on the back but is sealed. These can usually be "reset" by turning the power off, push and hold the self-test key in and turn the power switch back ON.

If the display starts flashing CAL, you have been successful and can reenter the numbers you have written down.
