Subject: RE: When to get involved?

NW IA
I watched a YouTube video of a guy using his "new to him" grinder mixer with some of the safety shields removed. His small children were nearby watching him. I politely suggested that he replace the shields since kids can move fast and are unpredictable, and for his own safety while using the grinder.

He replied saying that having shields on equipment doesn't make you smart, and he and his children were always careful around equipment. The comments section did not welcome my input either. I didn't know That the, "safety shields don't make you smart" sentiment was such widely accepted wisdom. The same fellow was also running a skid steer without a cage.

Full disclosure- I was foolish enough to get into a silage wagon for clean-out while my young son was on the running tractor attached to the wagon. 8 days in the hospital didn't make the math look too good re the time saved cleaning out the wagon.
