| I would stay somewhere close to a metro station. You will have to go through your representative to get the white house tour. If you had the earliest white house tour you could possibly do all that in one very full day. Everything would have to be planned ahead for tickets to work out for white house and the monument. Tickets for the washington monument can be gotten ahead of time or get to monument ticket booth early and get tickets the same day. They give tickets out at 8:45 I got in line at 6:30 was third person in line. Each person can get 6 tickets. The walk from the washington monument to Vietnam memorial is longer than most think. It is a nice walk just longer than you might imagine. We just spent 10 days in DC around the 4th of July there is a lot to see if you want to see more. We walked between 6-10 miles everyday. Finding a place to park your car is very difficult that is why I said stay near metro station and use that to get around. I can try to answer more questions if you have any or I am sure someone here is more knowledgeable than I am. I will offer my opinion that if I was driving from Missouri I would stay longer if you have the time and can afford to stay longer. There is so much to see we could have stayed longer.
