$5000 for drawing some pictures sounds ridiculous. We had a lumber yard draw up our blueprints and make some changes and reprint them along the way for $1 a square foot. We ended up not buying any materials from them but if we would have we could of gotten half of the money back. Id say the builder is really trying to pull one over on you. I'd look him up and see if hes had any legal issues in the past.
