$7 is what we charge and on the lower side in our area.
It is a very expensive crop to produce. Seed cost can be $250-300 depending on variety. Throw in normal corn fertilizer, several insecticide/fungicide trips, irrigation, and labor. Just the bags to put it in can cost well over $100/acre.
It gets to $1000/acre very fast before you’ve sold an ear.
Just like any perishable product, you have to price where you make money but also where the consumer can afford it
