Chebanse, IL..... | I saw the Savanah Bananas play the Texas team yesterday on ESPN. I think that was the channel. Hadn't seen them before. Looked very entertaining and looked like good ball players. I thought it would be fun to see a game if they played locally. Well......wouldn't you know it they will play in Chicago White Sox park on Aug 15/16. I thought it would be fun to get 5 tickets and take the family.
Checking stub hub it showed 5 seats together just past 1st base not too far up. Showed $437. I thought that was for the 5 tickets, or about $80 ea. I told son Kurt about it & he said that didn't sound right, that he thought it was $437 per seat. I said no....couldn't be. Who's got that much money?? So, I went back to stubhub & just entered "1 ticket". Well......Kurt was right. $437 for ONE seat!! That wasn't the highest. There were some $1000 + seats still available. Might as well be $100,000 in my book. Even the cheapest seat in the nose-bleed section in L field upper deck was $300 and some dollars!
The game I was watching on ESPN was @ Philadelphia. Sold out....39,000 seats. Somebody made a TON of $$.
But, they're still fun to watch. Very fast paced. Pitchers serve up as soon as they get the ball back from the catcher. No dilly-dallying. If a fan catches a foul ball, the batter is out. They have a time limit on the game and the game is over @ 1 hr 30 min, I think. Umpires are a big part of the "show". They are like the Harlem Globetrotters with baseballs instead. But, they can still hit & run with the best of college players. I'd say they're a step above minor league players. Some make it into MLB.
Maybe someday tickets will be cheaper, or corn may make it to $10/bu
