Southern Mn | Nice pic of the C17. If I’m reading the number right it’s 171. It’s the first C17 with the extended range fuel tanks. When it was new, Boeing flew it around in just a yellow primer. It had the nickname “big bird” by the maintenance crew that were around to see it. I’ve flown on 171 many times. Was a good plane. Used to belong to the 62nd in McChord. It was new to the AF inventory when I first joined. All the 17x tail numbers were good planes. Was a sad day when 173 crashed. | |
