Central Kansas | 50% or more of Costco’s pretax profit comes from membership fees. This allows for a much smaller profit margin on daily sales. There seems to some “hate” on stores like Costco, Sam’s club & Walmart …. and perhaps justifiably so for some. My Costco membership has allowed me to be fitted with Phillips hearing aids for $1,500 a pair instead of a stand alone office where they were $6,150 a pair. Guarantee is very generous, trial period is better than any and free cleaning and accessories with an appointment.
As an interest to Ag Talkers, I think their tire program is excellent as well with complimentary flat repair, etc. So….for me (1.5 hrs from nearest Costco) has made my membership a bargain for my hearing impairment. I am service connected for my hearing loss and find the VA I use to be understaffed, long time for appointments and slow to receive hearing aids and fit them, and the last set were older technology than my Costco instruments. These stores are problematic for the survival of small town stores and we try to use our local businesses…but our local grocery store does not have top of the line hearing aids. As always…different horses for different courses. | |
