Subject: RE: help finding a old variety of apple tree

Pittsburg, Kansas

All I could think of was crab apples but I do not remember them being all that tasty. I remember my mom making jelly with them and how they hurt when you got hit with them in a rotten apple fight (we could only throw the ones that were already on the ground - the ones on the tree were off limits or we would be in big trouble).

All our apple trees back then were full size trees. Big enough limbs I can remember climbing them as a kid. No semi-dwarf back then in our old orchard.
