What they are talking about there relates to very early night vision issued during the Vietnam War. From what I have read about that, some of the guys who experienced that has some pretty profound negative effects. It was a big enough of a problem that those goggles were taken out of service and eventually replaced with the green ones we use to this day. One thing they do not mention in that video is that it was common for the guys who experienced it to say that when they initially put the goggles on, they would see the "demons" flying along with their choppers but within a few seconds, it was like they became aware that the guy could see them and they would then seemingly "attack", leading to the wild firing of machine guns, even to the point of causing friendly fire damage to other choppers in the formation. | |
