SW WI
What are the other family members doing now that they can step up to the plate if someone is no longer able to work because of health?

Do you have underemployed people in the operation?

I would hate to have myself, or my wife, or my son incapacitated. Our operation would change drastically. Wife works off, son has sideline business ventures besides his farming. I could give our numbers of cattle, crops, acres covered with what size machinery and distances traveled…..but I won’t. No hired help.

I’ve had a couple family members fight cancer. Someone has to take them to treatment…..and then care for them as it progresses. In that case you lose 2 people out of operations.

But the financial aspect…..given no insurance…..crop failure is drop in the bucket compared to hospital bills with no insurance. And then you would say “ minimize risk, carry insurance “

Absolutely.

But it looks like subsidized crop insurance is easy for those who want it.

Why isn’t subsidized health insurance?
