They get a thrill from it
You run enough calls , most of them at very inconvenient times . There is not much thrill .
I do it to help people . No other reason to do it .
All that “im cool because im a fireman crap” wears off pretty quick .
I dont have the lights on my truck , wear the T shirt or cap .
The little kids waving at us is my absolute favorite part .
THEN it feels good to be a firefighter .
I was asked to bring a truck to wifes school , i had to clear it with cheif , he said heck lets take two .
We all really get a kick out of doing stuff like that .
Second is the community support , the people we help sure do tell us thanks . Im not gonna lie i like that part .
That makes all the time and late nights totally worth it .
One of the ladies at my wifes school looked her up to tell us thanks .
Those are the rewards we get , thats enough for us .
We are working at station 2 tonight . we put in lots of time -not fighting fires .
Another good part is going on calls with guys that got your back if things go wrong - i know my guys wont quit , they know i wont . a brotherhood .
I will go with those guys any time of day or night . |
