Waterloo IA | I am working on a tile plan, and there is some larger clay tile. Here in Iowa, normally I don't see any bigger than 5" clay, but this field has 6" and 8" clay. It also has some unconventionally placed laterals, and based on satellite imagery, the laterals seem to be working as of now. When calculating how much water a pipe can handle, I usually go to Prinsco's website or a slide rule. To my knowledge, they designed these calculators for corrugated plastic tile. If I want to know how much water these 6" and 8" clay mains can hold, do I need to multiply the calculator's output by a coefficient to get a true estimate? What is the convention for saving this old tile, as I might try to use as much of the clay and leave it intact, but some of the placements make it impossible to tile areas of the field that have no tile. | |
