Subject: Concrete pad for grain dryer

I just ripped out some old concrete where our corn dryer used to be. Guy running the excavator got a little happy and took too much dirt out getting the old footer out. The new dryer pad doesn’t call for a footer, just calls for a 2’ thick complete reinforced pad. What’s the best way to backfill before I pour my new pad? Fill with dirt and rent a vibratory roller? Fill with dense grade and roll it? Looking for suggestions. Thanks
