Subject: RE: That is a wrap

North East Wimmera district of Victoria.

When  I leased out the acres we own, I thought I might be  'in demand' as combine driver, truck driver, or whatever else 'needed doing!' but 10 years  plus down the track I have only done two loads from farm to town elevators, so lucky I'm not relying on the income!
Plus I'd need a college education to understand the electronics!
My middle son -  not involved in agriculture - informs me that the twin steer, bogie drive truck he operates is 'automatic'.   As in the driver selects 'D' and pushes the accelerator or the brake.    I loved 'roadranger' gearboxes [ either 10 or 13spd.] no clutch changing!  Near as I wanted to be to 'automatic!' - just listen to the 'song' the engine was singing, and join in! Son had to quit being a paramedic - would not take a Covid 'Jab' - and has found that being a 'farm boy' opens doors that would be shut to many his age!  Other son is not mechanical so a completely different character!
Just thought the other day - I don't think I'd change what I've done if I had a 're-run' at life.

After near drought conditions where I live - it has rained nicely nearly all day!
Some warmth next few weeks and we'll be in business!

By the way - congratulations Ontario C. I've forgotten how many harvests I was involved in as a kid - but 54 as the one in control after my Dad had a stroke.
