South Central MN | Only takes a few dead calves to go from making a profit on cow-calf to losing a pile of money most years so might be why not a lot of people have a huge herd. Sister has a herd of cows, also works a full time job. Some years that operation is running really tight with money.
When dad farmed he used to feed cattle to market weight, some years made money, some years they lost, combined with the crop side it all kind of worked out in the end. | |
