Subject: starvation foods

Pittsburg, Kansas

Things like potatoes, rice and bread are good starvation prevention foods. If a person has nothing better to eat they provide energy and keep a person from starving.

But that is almost exclusively what they are. Energy. Very light on essential nutrients and vitamins that the body needs to prosper. If I was starving I definitely would eat any bread, rice or potato I could get my hands on. But for good health foods that are nutrient dense with the essential amino acids and fats we need to thrive are better choices. Especially in a day and age where we do not put out as much physical energy as we once did in our youth or in earlier generations.

High energy but low nutrient foods are just not on the same level as nutrient dense foods for health reasons. Too much high energy foods and not enough nutrient dense foods is not a good recipe for good health.

Meat and eggs are both nutrient dense foods.
