S Illinois | Highly highly likely the sales announced this morning will end in different places. With the unknown sales timing breakdown it feels like a a sale based more on open loading slots this fall looking for a home/boat to put it on as anything.
This past week a boat of prior unknown corn sales went to Japan and half loads went to Venezuela and Columbia. In this report link below look for the destination sales column. That is the column where the reporting system reconciles unknown sales or sales that change destination. And shipments can never to be to unknown.

The thing to keep in mind is very seldom is it governments directly buying. China has its state run reserve but most of the grain they import is companies doing it. So the theory sort of goes we dont really care where it ends up, just that someone is buying grain that is leaving US ports.(edit: with regards to why sales are reported prior to final destinations finalized).
