Greene/Orange/Louisa/Albemarle/Madison county Virg | Don't get to hung up on potatoes. Eat them with the skin on. The skin is fiber. Higher the fiber the longer your body takes to break down the carbs.
Pretty much any high fiber vegetable is good for you. Lay off the processed carbs. Chips, bread, oatmeal, and rice etc.
Google low glycemic foods.
If you want to get technical, and I have no medical proof, just my experience. Try to eat 20% or less of your daily calories from carbs. A carb is 4 calories btw. I eat around 3000 per day on average and usually eat around 100-150 grams of carbs per day. This puts me somewhere around 15-20% each day. I also eat 1 meal per day, usually fasting 20-24 hrs each day all depending what time I eat supper.
I think saying eating 20 carbs or 50 carbs is wrong, it should be percentage of overall diet, as our caloric needs vary by person.
Example a woman eating 1500-1800 calories per day should not eat as many carbs as I do eating 3000 calories per day.
Just my opinion for what it's worth
And I cured my diabetes with diet and went from 400 pounds to right now around 275ish. I'm 6'6 and large framed BTW. I'm trying to get back to 250 and nearly there.
Just had a physical and a1c was a 5.1, was a 9.2 when I started this journey. Doctor talked about taking me off blood pressure medicine as well. I've been on this journey for the last 4 years and I'm proud of the fact I've kept the weight off and still losing it, slowly but surely. Looks like I've averaged about 30 pounds per year last 4 years. I'm 47 for what it's worth
Just my opinion, good luck to whatever you do. |
