NW Tennessee | I hope I didn't come off as attacking Mrs. Seabee's beliefs and her stand on children being better off with parents in my post yesterday morning. Surely did not mean to come off that way as I agree almost 100% with her thoughts on that as well as those in this particular post that I am replying to. What I don't agree with is her blanket statements implying that all daycare providers are in the business just to make a profit by warehousing kids with no concern for the children's welfare. There are good child care provider's out there, and while putting your kids in daycare is not the ideal situation, enrolling them in a GOOD facility is making the best of a less than ideal situation. There are going to be kids in daycare, for better or worse, no matter how much it's discussed and talked about. Not saying it's for the best, just how it is. I may get flamed for this, but my family has always looked at providing child care in a loving, caring, learning, and structured environment as a sort of ministry in itself. As I stated yesterday, my daughter's facility maintains a 1:4 teacher/student ratio, which is considerably lower than the state requirements for the age children she is licensed for. With that many employees, it is pretty obvious that profit is not the primary motive. | |
