South Central MN | I just think they had chances years ago to make some meaningful reforms to the way people go about becoming permanent citizens of this country but they kicked the can down the road like usual, and now we have this mess. Letting large numbers just flow in certainly was not a good idea (someone thought it was).
Plenty of people around here from Mexico or other countries to our south, most aren't causing problems, not sure how many are fully legal. Worked with plenty at a previous job, I never had problems with them though some other guys loved to complain about them.
I guess the way I would deal with the issue is to boot the criminals out, we have too many. The ones that are otherwise law abiding could just as well be handed some paperwork and "Here, fill this out, if you want to stay apply to become a citizen or have the appropriate paperwork (like green card), otherwise if you want to leave and go back to whatever country set up a plan to get there." I'm not in charge though so my opinion doesn't matter much. Seems the path to citizenship is rather long and expensive so can see why many didn't bother, but they should apply.
If the other side had won the election we would have a whole other set of problems to complain about so guess we just deal with what we have. | |
