Northeast Missouri | I've really not traveled north much this summer, but I know going west (Saline Co. and beyond) is super great--early planting plus decent or better rains. And going south is also excellent at least for what I've seen. Go *farther* south and you get into excess moisture--too many rains too big.
North, also East, recently has had big rains, some flooding. But I still believe the "rain makes grain" adage to hold true, and while the wettest areas may be 5 - 10% below maximum yields, lots of other locations will more than make up for it.
So my knowledge is limited outside of a 100 mile radius from home (Monroe Co., MO). But understand we normally are *not* a high-yield area; this year we will be--I'd expect a record crop here unless rust or tar spot goes rampant and isn't controlled. |
