We waited till it was dry enough that the tractor wouldn't leave too deep of ruts in the fields. A few low spots were still wet, but the roller smoothed it out and the fields looked fine come May. If we waited any longer the crops would have been too tall and we didn't want to risk damaging them. Only thing we've heard is don't roll fields in the morning while the plants are brittle. Wait until the sun comes out so that they bend over and don't break off at the ground. A few years ago it never dryed out until early May and we never got a chance to roll them. It just depends on the year.
