Scranton | They blamed it on poor planting. I made the mistake of telling them it wasn't perfectly fit when I planted because it was dry at home (farm is 60 miles south) and I wanted to get planter home. Planted with a 1770NT center fill. It was basically no till into corn stalks (we VT'ed it). Planter did perfect on all the rest of my acres.
My ears looked EXACTLY like the pics I've seen this year. Some ears pollinated fine, but 1 in 3 looked like the hair on my almost bald head. Corn did 124 bpa, where looking at it, I expected 180 on that farm.
NOW, I did go snooping around the neighborhood today, pulling ears from friends' fields that I know are P. I only picked ears that were brown silked...I picked 20 ears in 5 fields, didn't find a single ear that was poorly pollinated. Maybe a few kernels on the entire ear, but that is normal. | |
